The Children’s Museum Homeschool Association proudly presents the first ever Homeschool Adventure Program!
Be a part of the exciting inaugural semester of our learning adventure! As a charter member of The Children's Museum Homeschool Association, you will have opportunities to shape future programming, help develop our one-of-a-kind resource library, and much more!
How it works:
Students grades K-8 will enroll in a 5-month program, meeting on Mondays twice a month for cooperative science instruction classes in 3 separate science tracks.
For the Winter/Spring 2014 series the focuses will be:
Natural Wonders: Explore biology, botany, and geology through encounters with the museum’s live animals and nature center resources.
Space and Light Explorers: Journey through the sky in the museum's planetarium, then bring the exploration back to earth with specially designed art experiences.
Team Science!: Work cooperatively to solve physics, engineering, and chemistry challenges using unique museum resources.
There will be 3 classes a day, each in a separate track. Children will be separated by age group to ensure they get the most from their educational experience. Each class will include hands-on science instruction, cooperative learning activities, and integrated art and literature.
For those familiar with TCM’s past Homeschool programming, classes will meet in much the same style, with the three programs spread throughout the morning and early afternoon following the program schedule featured below:
Program Schedule:
10:00-10:45 - Class One
11:00-11:45 - Class Two
12:00-12:45 - Lunch and Recess Time
(space will be provided for a group lunch)
1:00-1:45 - Class Three
Class will commence in early 2014, meeting on Mondays every other week from January 13 through May 19. If needed, June 2 will serve as a make-up date.
Program Dates:
January 13 & 27
February 10 &24
March 10 & 24
April 7 & 21
May 5 & 19
PLUS! In an effort to include even the littlest of learners, The Children’s Museum Homeschool Association introduces Little Scientists!.
The Little Scientists program is for children aged 2-4 who are not yet ready to take part in the Homeschool classes but still have a desire to discover and explore. The program will meet during regular Homeschool Programming days. Each session will feature an animal encounter and planned art and literature activities that make up an exciting parent/child class program. Little Learners are also invited to stay for supervised free play while parents attend the Parent Information Seminar each week (see below for more details).
